The Speedex Group has been part of the UAE’s business landscape for over three decades. How has the company’s vision evolved over the years with the introduction of new ventures such as Symbolic Developments and the entry of the third generation into the business?

Over the past 35 years, the Speedex Group’s vision has evolved from being a trusted retail and business brand into a diversified group with new ventures such as Symbolic Developments. While our foundation has always been built on quality, integrity, and strong family values, expanding into real estate allowed us to reimagine how we contribute to Dubai’s growth through design-led, community-centric, lifestyle-focused developments.

With the third generation now entering the business, this evolution becomes even more meaningful. They carry forward the legacy built by our founders while introducing a fresh, modern perspective on design, community building, and urban living. This blend of heritage and innovation is shaping the future direction of Symbolic Developments, ensuring we honour our past while building for the next generation of Dubai homeowners.

The UAE market has changed dramatically over the past 30 years. From your perspective, what has remained constant in Symbolic’s approach to development, and what has changed the most?

Dubai’s real estate landscape has transformed at an extraordinary pace, but one thing has remained constant in our approach: we never compromise on quality or delivery. Whether it was construction materials 35 years ago or smart technologies today, our foundation has always been to build homes that last and communities that add value.

What has changed the most is the way people live and what they expect from their homes. Buyers now look for design efficiency, lifestyle-driven amenities, sustainability, and community integration. As these expectations evolved, we evolved with them. Our projects today are far more design-forward, wellness-oriented, and technologically advanced, while still anchored in the craftsmanship and quality the Speedex name is known for.

Quality is often cited as the defining feature of Symbolic homes. Can you take us behind the scenes of your development process? What does “quality” look like in practice—from design to delivery?

For us, quality is much more than a marketing word; it’s a comprehensive, well-defined approach embedded in every stage of our process. It starts with thoughtful low-density planning, ensuring that every project offers a truly spacious, comfortable, and liveable environment.

Because we are fully vertically integrated, we maintain tight control over every aspect of design and execution. Our in-house design team doesn’t just think like architects; they think like homemakers. This perspective allows us to prioritise practical living needs, layouts that work, ventilation that breathes life into spaces, and materials chosen not just for appearance but for durability and long-term comfort.

Our deep construction heritage means we know exactly which details make a difference to residents’ daily lives. This is reflected in how quickly and efficiently we delivered Symbolic Alpha, completed in just 14 months, without compromising on the finishing standards that define our brand.

At the final stage, every unit undergoes rigorous, detailed quality checks to ensure it meets the craftsmanship and longevity our family has been committed to for over 30 years. This holistic, hands-on approach is how we translate quality from vision into every Symbolic home.

Many of your projects are known for their strong sense of community. How do you approach creating spaces that go beyond just housing and genuinely bring people together?

We see housing as just the starting point; the true essence of our developments lies in creating environments where people feel connected and truly at home. To achieve this, we focus on designing spaces that naturally foster interaction and nurture a sense of belonging.

By carefully shaping the layout and flow of our communities, we create environments where outdoor and shared spaces are not afterthoughts but integral to everyday life. This intentional design encourages residents to step outside their homes and engage with neighbours, whether through active play areas for children, peaceful spots for relaxation, or communal spaces that support family activities and social connections.

Our approach ensures that every element from the placement of greenery to the accessibility of recreational zones works together to cultivate a vibrant, cohesive community. For example, in Liwan, Symbolic Altus benefits from its proximity to a dynamic community sports hub, making active, family-centred living a seamless part of residents’ daily routines.

Symbolic Developments has built in some of Dubai’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. How do you select your locations, and what makes a site the right fit for a Symbolic project?

We look for locations that offer three things: connectivity, community potential, and long-term value for residents.

Neighbourhoods like Liwan and Al Furjan are perfect examples; they’re well-connected, family-friendly, and poised for growth. We study the urban fabric of each area carefully to ensure our developments enhance the neighbourhood rather than just occupy space.

A site is the right fit for a Symbolic project when we can add meaningful value through thoughtful layouts, low-density planning, and amenities that uplift the community’s quality of life.

As the third generation steps in, how do you balance maintaining a deep-rooted family legacy with embracing innovation and modern market trends?

For us, legacy and innovation don’t compete; they complement each other perfectly. Our family legacy provides a strong foundation of trust, quality, and operational excellence that guides everything we do. Innovation, meanwhile, is about pushing boundaries in ways that truly differentiate us in the market.

Instead of simply following popular trends, we focus on pioneering solutions that set new standards, whether it’s developing proprietary building techniques that improve durability and efficiency, integrating smart systems tailored specifically to enhance daily living rather than gimmicks, or embedding wellness and sustainability not as add-ons, but as core principles in our entire design and construction process.
